Mexes Set For New Milan Deal

AC Milan look set to offer former French international defender Philippe Mexes a new contract to stay at the San Siro for another year.

His current deal is set to come an end in the next few days and he is currently one of the top earners for at Milan, earning around €4million per season. Although it seems the former France international is willing to take a pay cut to stay with Milan.

Mexes’ experience vital to Milan

It is believed that club resident Silvio Berlusconi is also eager to retain the services of the experienced defender. Mexes has been at the San Siro for four seasons, having joined them from Roma for the start of the 2011/12 season.

In his time with Milan, Mexes has made 99 appearances in all competitions for the club so far, scoring five goals in that time.

Mexes, who started his career at Auxerre, joining them at the age of 12, became a prominent player in their youth team as he captained the side to many successes. After five seasons in the Auxerre first team and 168 appearances for the French club, he moved to Serie A and AS Roma.

Controversial move to Roma

However, his moved to Romacaused controversy as Auxerre claimed they had not agreed to the transfer. It was solely the decision of the player to move, Mexes was temporarily suspended while the Frenchman and Roma appealed the decision.
