Liverpool Defender Lovren Set For Scan

Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren is expected to undergo a scan on his injured knee on Monday evening. He sustained the injury in yesterday’s 2-2 draw with West Brom following a challenge from Craig Gardener. The defender had to be stretchered off the pitch following the challenge in second half of the game at Anfield. He also required oxygen and a leg brace. Before the scan can be performed doctors will need to wait for the bruising to go down.

After the game, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said he hopes the injury isn’t too serious for his defender. Stating that its hard situation. Gardener hit him full, its cut and blue at the moment but Liverpool and their manager will hope that it doesn’t rule out the Croatian International for too long.

West Brom manager Tony Pulis felt that Gardener won the ball in the challenge that caused Lovren’s injury and highlighted two challenges on his players that he felt required further scrutiny. Pulis highlighted a challenge from James Milner on Gardener, which he felt was a very poor challenge. He also highlighted a challenge from Martin Skrtel Salomon Rondon.

Liverpool manager Klopp refused to shake hands with Pulis after the game and was involved in an altercation with a member of West Brom’s backroom staff as he wet onto the pitch at the final whistle. Despite this Klopp says he has no issue with Pulis himself, claiming he didn’t shake hands with his opposite number because it was not a friendly game.
